Five Rohingya families who crossed the Burma-Bangladesh border on Wednesday night were pushed back into Burma by the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) reports the Kaladan News Network.
The families were among 70 to 80 families that were forced from their homes by the Nasaka, Burma’s border security  force. The Nasaka is building a fence along the border and has confiscated lands in the area.
According to Kaladan, the evictions were ordered by Nasaka Commander Major Kyi Hlaing of Nasaka area No.3 of Maungdaw Township. No plans to resettle the uprooted families were announced, nor were they given any compensation.
The other families are said to want to cross the border into Bangladesh, but are taking temporary shelter with relatives and friends.
Kaladan quotes a local trader as saying Rohingya families have been facing a lot of trouble because of rains.
Following the crossing on Wednesday, the BDR remains on alert.
