The Burma Army is suspected of killing two villagers following an ambush by a joint force from the PaO Liberation Army (PNLA) and the Karen National Liberation Army (see: Karen and PaO join forces in attack on SPDC patrol).
Two days after the ambush, soldiers from LIB 425 arrested villagers from Sar Sar and Nawngdapan villages, near the site of the ambush reports the Shan Herald Agency for News.
A local youth said they were accused of cooperating with the rebels because the villagers did not inform the army of the attack.
The headman of Sar Sar village, U Kyaw Pae and another local villager were summoned to the west of the village, but have not returned since.
Security around the village has also been tightened, with villagers restricted from leaving the village to tend their crops.
