5.5 magnitude eathquake in Western Burma

The US Geological Survey is reporting a magnitude 5.5 earthquake occurred in western Burma, near the border with India at 5:12 this morning (22:42 Sunday GMT). The epicentre was 410 miles East of Kolkata (Calcutta). See here for details. There are no reports of damage or casualties

The earthquake comes less than three months after Cyclone Nargis left tens of thousands dead in Burma’s worst natural disaster.
