Catching up with old friends

I spent two hours in a car today as I went with Pastor Michael to Noh Bo village, out on the border with Burma. We were due to attend the graduation ceremony of the small bible college run by Pastor Nerclay in the village.
It’s the same one I visited with the team from 180, when we came to Mae Sot in July. It was nice to finally catch up with Pastor Nerclay and Cindy, one of the teachers, who both recognized me from my previous visit.
In July, we taught the students the Desperation Song. And hearing them crying out to God with such passion has for me been one of the endearing memories of that whole trip.
Over lunch after the ceremony, Cindy told me how moved she had been by that song when she had heard it during our visit, so I guess we made an impression.
During the ceremony, there were a couple of musical performances by the students, and I had quietly hoped they would sing the Desperation Song again.
Alas, it was not to be. But, I did give Pastor Nerclay a copy of Who May Ascend, the Vine’s live worship CD, which I hope will inspire the remaining students.
