Life to the full

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
John 10:10
At last, I’m in Mae Sot. Getting here was a long, three day process that involved flying to Bangkok, spending an hour and a half on a bus crawling through traffic in downtown Bangkok, spending the night in Bangkok. Flying to Chiang Mai, spending the night there and finally catching the bus for the six hour journey to Mae Sot.
But, I did get to meet up with my old friend from CCHK, Kitty McKinsey, who is now with the UNHCR in Bangkok. She had managed to dig up the answers to some questions I sent her several months ago. I suppose I had better sit down and write that story now.
However, I have come all this way to become a missionary and not to be a journalist. That means focusing on helping people find the life that Jesus promised in John 10:10. However, as this sign I spotted in Chiang Mai airport shows, the Thai’s already have the key to life.
I had to fly into and out of Bangkok’s new Suvarnabhumi Airport, which looks like your typical Asian super-hub, but is just as confusing as the old airport, and runs on the same bizarre Thai logic. I was almost put on the wrong Airport Express bus, and my flight to Chiang Mai was delayed by over an hour.
The airport is not the only thing that is new. A new Tesco Lotus branch has opened in Mae Sot. It’s not as big as the one in Chiang Mai, but look at what it does have…
There goes my diet.
