The Catholic Church has announced it will no longer refer to healings at Lourdes as miracles; instead they are ‘inexplicable healings’.
The new terminology has been described as ‘miracle lite’ but the church says the change is because doctors now have the answer to everything, although some officials say that doesn’t mean they are always right.
The last confirmed miracle was 20 years ago, but the church says over a dozen people have been inexplicably healed in the past year. And, with some six million people visiting Lourdes every year, it’s clear that some people still believe in miracles no matter what the church says.
